Ingredients

Scale

Apple Prep:

  • 3 large apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala recommended)
  • Optional: Lemon juice for tossing slices

Crispy Coating Mix:

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs or crushed graham crackers
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (or coconut sugar)

Pantry Staples:

  • Cooking spray (avocado or olive oil spray)
  • Optional: Vanilla Greek yogurt, dairy-free caramel, or honey for dipping

Instructions

  • Wash and dry apples thoroughly.
  • Core and slice apples into uniform wedges, about ½ inch thick; optionally toss in lemon juice to prevent browning.
  • Set up three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with panko or graham cracker crumbs mixed with cinnamon and brown sugar.
  • Dredge each apple slice in flour, then coat it in egg, and then press it into the cinnamon-sugar breadcrumb mixture.
  • Lightly spray the air fryer basket and coated apple fries with cooking spray.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  • Place apple fries in a single layer in the basket (do not overcrowd); cook in batches if needed.
  • Air fry for 5–6 minutes, then flip and cook for an additional 3–4 minutes, until golden brown and crisp.
  • Let fries cool for 1–2 minutes for maximum crunch.
  • Serve immediately with your choice of dipping sauce.

Notes

For the crispiest fries, don’t skip the flour base and avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket. Store leftovers in the fridge and reheat in the air fryer to restore crunch. Can be made gluten-free with appropriate substitutions.
